YOU MUST HAVE A VALID GOVERNMENT ISSUE PHOTO ID AS WELL AS ONE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS FOR YOUR VEHICLE TO BE RELEASED
A notarized Power of Attorney
A Certificate of Title
A tax collector's receipt and vehicle registration renewal card
A court order
A notarized proof of loss claim of theft from an insurance company to show right of possession
Positive name and address information that corresponds to the information contained in the TXDOT Vehicles and Registration Files
A valid insurance certificate for the vehicle
A TDLR approved affidavit of right of possession and control
IF YOU HAVE PERSONAL PROPERTY THAT NEEDS TO BE RETRIEVED FROM AN IMPOUNDED VEHICLE
The approved time to collect and remove items still in the vehicle is Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. When collecting these possessions the following guidelines should be adhered to:
Only the vehicle's owner or owner's representative is allowed to remove personal items from the vehicle after presenting proper identification and forms.
The vehicle may not be dismantled and parts may not be removed. This includes engine, tires, and installed stereos.
The vehicle storage facility may require the owner, or owner's representative, removing the items to provide a receipt listing all items that were taken from vehicle.
Vehicles or items cannot be released with a law enforcement hold on them. The owner of the vehicle must contact the proper enforcement agency to get the hold released before the vehicle or it's contents can be removed.
